60 years of Vancouver Aquarium

Celebrating 60 years of ocean conservation

The word history comes from historia, meaning finding out and narrative. The narrative of an organization can be simplified into a timeline, highlighting its milestones, events, and even failures.

In June 2016, the Vancouver Aquarium celebrated its 60th anniversary of conservation. To highlight its anniversary, the Exhibit Design team was to design an exhibit to be displayed in Teck Connections gallery for one year, telling stories about the animals, building, staff and volunteers.

The result was this open-book like three dimensional structure with rich movement of highs and lows, which was inspired by the ribbon-like forms apparent in graphics showcased all throughout the galleries.
